Welcome back to Travels with Chloe. I took a couple weeks off, and I could say it was because I was busy, but I know that’s just an excuse. The good news is, I’m back and have a lot to write about.

First thing’s first. This is my official announcement: I’m hiking the Long Trail this summer.

At the beginning of March, I decided to turn my dreaming into planning and started putting together the supplies I would need for a thru hike of Vermont’s Long Trail. I realized I had almost everything I needed already and the more I looked at the logistics, the more it seemed like a truly doable hike.

Next, to make it feel more official, I applied to be a blogger for the Trek, and found out earlier this week that I was accepted. You’ll be able to follow my journey there starting in May. I’ll be sharing content on this blog too, leading up to my hike, and of course reflecting on the inevitable missteps I’m sure to make.

As I gather the last of my gear and start training, I’ll be documenting it here. I’m excited to share my thoughts on the new gear I’ve put together. Any excuse for a trip to REI is valid in my book, and the past month has been a flurry of research and calculations to find the right gear for my hike.

Chloe will be making the trek with me, so get ready for plenty of dog-related hiking content as well. She’s already been enjoying our more frequent training trips.

I’m so excited to start this journey, and I hope you’ll subscribe and follow along for this summer’s big adventure!
